2022 Year In Review Certification List Update
Today is December 31, 2022. I am doing the final 2022 year in review post about my certification goals that you can see right here.
2022 Certifications
- Facebook Digital Marketing Associate — January 2022 — on the original list
- SC-200 Security Operations Analyst — March 2022
- SC-100 Cybersecurity Architect Expert — May 2022
- MS-900 Microsoft 365 Fundamentals — May 2022
- Certified in Cybersecurity — September 2022
- GCP Cloud Digital Leader — October 2022 — on the original list
Dropped certifications
- Oracle Cloud Autonomous Database Specialist — free promotion ended February 28, 2022
- SC-300 IAM Administration — Passed SC-100 Expert certification
- SC-400 Information Protection Administrator — Passed SC-100 Expert certification
- GCP Associate Cloud Engineer — Informational interview saying since I have oved 1 year’s worth of cloud experience, I could go straight into Professional Cloud Architect
Originally, I have 10 certifications that I want to get this year. I have completed 2 of the 10 certifications. I dropped the Oracle autonomous database certification because the free exam certification promotion expired on February 28, 2022. I have dropped 3 certifications based on professional development and my completing an expert certification (SC-300, SC-400 and GCP Associate Cloud Engineer).
I have added to the certification list. I have received my SC-100 Microsoft Certified Cybersecurity Architect Expert certification. It is a beta expert level exam that I have taken in May 2022. I have received my results in July 2022. I have also passed my MS-900 exam to qualify for an education technology chat moderator job. Furthermore, I received my ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity certification through the free One Million Certified in Cybersecurity promotion. This promotion is still operating as of this publication.
Remaining 2022 Certifications That I Will Get In 2023
- CISSP
- AWS Machine Learning Specialty
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional
- Terraform Associate
Passing the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity certification has given me the exam format and process for CISSP. I also learn that when another CISSP endorses my experience, I would not have to verify my work experience. I am passing my CISSP by no later than May 2023.
I have learned that I can renew my AWS Community Builder application for a third year. This renewal will have AWS Machine Learning specialty certification on it since I am on the machine learning track. This shows that I am using the my program perk to the fullest extent. I will also get the AWS Solutions Architect Professional later in 2023.
I am currently enrolled in the Pluralsight Cloud Happy promotion. This promotion ends December 31, 2022. Cloud Happy includes Terraform Associate. I will have access to these lessons until February 2023. Obtaining an infrastructure as code (IaC) certification will bolster my competitive advantage.
Result — I Did Okay
I felt that overall I did okay. I have taken full advantage of available voucher programs to advance my career. I have also become a cloud expert by passing SC-100. I feel that my passing SC-100 solidifies what I have been feeling about my skillset coming into 2022. I feel that I have enough cloud knowledge to say that I am an expert. SC-100 just is the icing on the cake.
What I will say is that I do not need to enroll in as many professional development programs in 2023. 2021 and 2022 have been very big professional development program years. I am happy to have been selected into AWS Community Builders, AWS She Builds CloudUp, Salesforce Deloitte Consulting Program, Black Salesforce Professionals, GCP Jumpstart Cloud Career Program and Microsoft Learn Career Connected programs. However, I do feel that some of this time could have been allocated towards applying and interviewing. I will do more applying for jobs in 2023.
