AWS She Builds CloudUp SAA: Immersion Day
This week was the finals for the February 2023 Solutions Architect Associate (SAA) cohoirt. We had our Immersion Day. Immersion Day was a 3-hour lab where the mentors would be in the Zoom breakout rooms to answer any questions while we did the labs. There were regular and advanced labs. I chose the advanced labs. The breakout room I was in was ‘an experience to say the least’. Here were my notes below:
AWS Cloud for Her Immersion Day
Thursday I had the AWS Cloud for Her (formerly AWS She Builds CloudUp) Immersion Day. I selected the advanced labs — web applications. In the 2 ½ hours’ lab, I finished building the virtual private cloud, EC2 instance and Aurora database. My wheelhouse is storage (which was step #4) and infrastructure than database. It was great to create a MySQL/Aurora instance, database and link it to EC2.
Furthermore, I learned something regarding connecting Systems Manager to EC2. I learned that I needed to attach the AWS Systems Manager agent onto the EC2 before adding the Systems Manager role that I created. Even with these new discoveries I still made time which was important. When you’re on a job, you had to turn around these requests pretty fast in these help desks/service desks.
What I’ve Learned
I learned that AWS Educate had advanced labs. I will be checking these out because I need a free way to keep my skills up. Yes, I have Cloud Academy through AWS Community Builders, but I do like AWS Educate; and, will be checking out.
What’s Next?
Asking Cloud for Her about receiving another exam voucher. I will do that because I am passing my AWS Solutions Architect Associate renewal exam by June 30, 2023. As always, I will keep you posted.
