Facebook and Instagram (along with SnapChat and WhatsApp, which Facebook owns). These four social media have over 4 billion followers. It also magnifies a downside of social media: you don’t own it. This is one reason why you should have your own website and email provider. Here are 5 reasons why email and website matter.

You don’t own social media.

You don’t own Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat, WhatsApp, Twitter, etc. (I can go on and on but you get my point.). You would own email and website.

You can control your message

Email and website are ways to control your message. You can send out emails regardless of what social media is doing.

Sidenote: I emailed my list while Facebook and Instagram are down and my subscribers received my message. My website is still up and running too.

Email has a higher return on investment (ROI) then social media.

Email marketing still has the best ROI of any type of medium including social media. Yes, Facebook has 2 billion people on it, Instagram and WhatsApp have 1 billion people apiece, but email still is the best way to get the most bang for your buck.
