Google Cloud Jumpstart First Session Recap

Hey everybody! If you’ve been reading this blog (and you SHOULD!) then you would know that I got accepted into the Google Cloud Jumpstart Program! As a multi-cloud professional, this is major because here in the US, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is the number 3 behind AWS and Azure. I am also AWS, Azure and Oracle Cloud certified. Having GCP would make me certified in all three.

Recap

This was the orientation session on Google Meet giving us the overview of the program. What I liked about it was the I received Coursera and Qwiklabs for free (They’re both subscription services. I am heavy on self-improvement using Udemy, LinkedIn Learning and Cloud Academy to upskill myself. It welcomed that I can now add Coursera to the list.).

We have to complete the online course and labs for each training session to receive the Associate Cloud Engineer exam voucher. Having used Qwiklabs while going through Ohio Means Jobs and having cloud certifications under my belt, I am happy to not start over from scratch. Many of my fellow students probably are so this could be an intense learning curve. BUT this is why I write these recaps to give you the good the bad and the ugly.

February 1, 2022 is the next ‘office hours’ Google Meet. I do see myself completing both the online course and lab way before then. As always I will keep you posted.
