Thirty-Fourth Google Cloud Jumpstart Session Recap: Transferable Skills To Pivot

I came with the ideas and talking points for this GCP mentoring session. I was the one who said that we should go through our tech contacts to see if they still worked there. My mentor told me that the GCP Jumpstart program manager got reassigned. Although she was with Google, she wasn’t over the program and there may be a new program manager. In the last session recap, I talked about how the GCP Jumpstart page still said 2022 and we were in 2023. That move was unsurprising. But instead of being reactive, I wanted this issue to be proactive.

Transferable Skills To Pivot

Whether you’re in tech or not, now is a great time to assess how your current skills transfer to other industries. Using the tech industry as an example, nonprofits, education, hospitals and manufacturing all use technology. You can also add retail, banking, hospitality (hotels and resorts), energy and entertainment use technology too. Don’t feel that your tech skillset could only exist in the tech sector. Expand beyond it to see what other opportunities are out there.
