This Week In AWS Community : AWS Security Specialty Exam Changes July 11, 2023

This week AWS notified everyone that it would update the AWS Security Specialty exam on July 11, 2023. July 10, 2023 is the final day to sit for the current AWS exam. This caught a lot of people off guard because we were only given 90 days versus 180 days for the AWS Solutions Architect Associate and AWS Solutions Architect Professional exams in 2022.

Winter 2022 AWS held its specialty challenge where you would receive a 50% off discounted exam voucher (March 31, 2023 was the final day so the voucher expired.). This is free training so if you want to beat the deadline then check this out. IMHO, I do feel that the reason for the change is the increased importance of cybersecurity within the marketplace. The exam debuted in 2020 and here we are in 2023 with the same exam so things must change. AWS also has increased competition from GCP and Microsoft creating new cybersecurity certifications ( I am a Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert.).
