This Week in AWS Community : Kuiper
This Week in AWS Community will be different. I am focusing on an AWS service that you may not know too much about: the Kuiper satellite. Why? Because it is in the news and it is an AWS service. I know that you know about EC2, S3, RDS, SageMaker and Bedrock. This time I am covering Kuiper.
What is Kuiper?
Kuiper is the Amazon satellite service that will provide affordable broadband IT services. Think of Kuiper as Amazon’s answer to Google Fiber.
Kuiper will have a major launch Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 12pm EDT. The Amazon launch is being facilitated by the United Launch Alliance.
What is the United Launch Alliance?
Formed in 2006, this is a joint venture between Lockheed Martin Space and Boeing Defense, Space & Security. ULA will launch 27 Amazon Kuiper satellites into orbit April 9th. You can watch the launch here directly on the ULA page.
