This Week In AWS Community: 2025 AWS Community Builder Application Window Is Open

It is that time of the year again. The 2025 AWS Community Builders application window is open. From now through January 20, 2025, you can apply to become a Builder.

This is a great opportunity to hone and develop your AWS technical skills. The program has even introduced a new AI Engineering learning track. I have written about this as well as my foray into AI with AI Practitioner.

Here are some tips:

· This is technical not advocacy. What I mean by advocate is someone who champions and speak on behalf of AWS. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. However, the AWS Community Builders have technical skills. That means Python, Bash, Powershell, C++ programming skills. It is all about building and creating products, services and architecture.

This is My Architecture is a weekly series where companies detail how they implement AWS services for profit. You can find This Is My Architecture on the AWS official YouTube channel and the AWS Developers YouTube channel. The AWS Developers playlist is the newer one but the AWS official playlist has 491 episodes with a wide range of use cases.

· Be AWS certified. When I got accepted in May 2021, I had AWS Cloud Practitioner and AWS Solutions Architect Associate certifications. You have to have some skin in the game.

· Proofread, edit and make sure that your links work: please stress test your links. The worst thing in the world is to have spelling errors and the wrong links on your application.
