August 2023 Certification List Update: Scrum And Oracle Cloud Take Center Stage
August 2023 has been a very busy month. My birthday (Leo season!), Ohio IMAP (individual microcredential assistance program) and the Oracle Cloud Race to Certification have been clamoring for attention.
Accomplishments
· 8/3/2023 — Passed my Scrum Master Certified certification exam
· 8/11/2023 — Passed My Oracle Cloud Multicloud Architect Associate certification exam
· 8/16/2023 — Received Oracle Race to Certification Sector 1 badge
· 8/18/2023 — Received Oracle Race to Certification Sector 2 Badge
· 8/27/2023 — Rescheduled my Oracle Observability Professional certification exam to September12, 2023 since Oracle has extended the Race to Certification through September 30, 2023
· 8/29/2023 — Decided to scheduled my Scrum Agile Master Certified exam for September 5, 2023
· 8/31/2023 — Created IBM SkillsBuild and registered for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) learning path to receive a free exam voucher by December 31, 2023
Scrum
I passed my Scrum Master Certified on August 2, 2023. I would had passed it earlier but ScrumStudy.com did not have same day registration like PearsonVue. However, I used WebEx, sat in a chair at a desk (requirements. No bed or sofa) and passed.
Later in August, I completed the Scrum Agile Master Certified (SAMC) exam prep training. Both were part of the Ohio IMAP program. Global Lynx was the training provider for both scrum trainings. My goal is to pass my SAMC exam on September 5, 2023.
Oracle Cloud
This month, I have been all-in with Oracle Cloud because (initially) the deadline was August 31, 2023. Oracle has extended it through September 30, 2023. I have passed my Multi-cloud Architect Associate exam on August 11, 2023. This is my second Oracle Cloud certification and my first associate level certification.
I have learned that I’ve received my Race to Certification sector 1 badge on August 16, 2023. It was initially awarded July 29, 2023. The error that I made was thinking that the sector badge would be on Oracle MyLearn. The MyLearn portal contains the exam prep courses, exam scheduling, and certification badges. However, I have to create an Oracle Communities profile to see my sector badges. I have received my Race to Certification sector 2 badge from passing my multi-cloud architect associate on August 18, 2023.
I have to switch my second exam voucher of Cloud Security to Observability due to the exam slots drying up. With the Race to Certification being extended through September 30, 2023, I rescheduled my exam to September 12, 2023. This will be my first Oracle Cloud professional certification. I am taking full advantage of this promotion because Oracle Cloud is the #5 public cloud. It has brand name recognition.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
I scurried to get on this one. Someone on LinkedIn posted that August 31, 2023 was the final day to register for the IBM SkillBuild RHEL learning path to qualify for a free exam voucher. Linux runs the Internet so how can I bypass this one? I created an account, registered and completed one of the five modules. I had through December 31, 2023 to complete the learning path and request my voucher.
